Oooh, that’s very interesting. I have not hidden that I love Yomouta as a ship and do think canon hints that Uta has feelings for Yomo that aren’t just friendship, but yes, either way, Yomo is Uta’s link to the world of people. Uta could not let Yomo die in the 24th ward, after all. I really hope Yomo is able to get through to Uta in the end, since neither of their arcs are over.
Oh yeah, definitely!! I actually was just discussing Uta on twitter with @charade_s the other day. Uta’s got that tattoo “I can neither live with you nor without you.” Which kind of embodies a lot of the themes and character of the series, because as Uta tells Donato, he’s lonely living on the edges. He can’t live with people because he doesn’t know how, nor can he live without them. (I know the tattoo references ghoul-human relationships but do we really think it only has one meaning?) I would hope Uta’s arc ends with him learning to live with people rather than dying but we’ll see. It depends on whether Uta is the original OEK or not.
Itori is very heavily tied to Uta and Yomo, and she’s the one who introduced the concept of hybrid kids to us. I expect that to be explored, especially as she seems to know Touka is pregnant. (she’s my preference to actually be the OEK actually tho I know it’s unlikely)
Maybe Uta’s the original OEK 😉 (I think Ishida’s birthday art of Uta definitely confirmed he’s a one-eyed either way which might just connect him to V, and the sclera tattoos fit in with that.)
All right, let’s do this. Here comes pain. And also more meta-ish observations than the past few posts, such as The Pattern of Abdominal Wounds=Hope.
This is literally my worst nightmare I’m so scared of centipedes.
Oh hey it’s the same thing Kaneki thinks when he becomes Dragon, right down to the Mom, Mom statement. Save him from himself. Qs and Aces I’m counting on you.
I wonder if Ishida thought of this when he chose the title “Trash” for the chapter with the Seidou-Amon-Akira confrontation on Rushima.
Let’s be real it’s probably less painful than my high school reunion will be.
Seeing the best in people and being able to look past their past has always been one of Kurona’s strengths. We see it again with Seidou in :re.
Juuzou essentially embodies the series’ themes. He has absolutely no appreciation for life, and doesn’t care about death. His character’s definitely grown in regards to that, but it needs to grow more in :re, and I think it will. Juuzou’s growth really represents the hope for a better world.
Oh, Kaneki. His motivations are so messed up here (and the same as Mutsuki’s really).
Yep, calling ghouls trash seems to be a thing with Akira. So I’m thinking it is deliberate.
Honestly when Akira gets her period Amon is probably convinced she’s dying God help him if they ever have a kid.
A wound through the abdomen from a friend always foreshadows good things. I’m counting on Ishida not to break this pattern in 156 with Urie and Mutsuki.
What is foreshadowing
Relatable Eto.
Akira’s a prophet.
Takizawa’s focus on promotion=he’s an Urie foil/shadow too. Keep focusing on it and see where it gets you Urie-kun. To, idk, the same place: being a ghoul.
*insert eyes emoji*
I just really don’t think Uta’s interest in Yomo is platonic.
Correct. He’s a boy getting hit on.
Arima politely greeting his father-in-law.
Uta offering Kaneki the answer on a silver platter: empathy.
Stranger danger Hinami-chan.
Get on it yo.
Please admire excited Touka. I hope she gets the chance to be a teacher. Also that last panel is totally foreshadowing for 120 and her confrontation with Kaneki. Please learn soon Touka it’s okay to be angry (since in :re she seems not to be angry at all) just guide it in the right way.
Behold, Furutou. They better meet up again.
Behold, Ui Koori.
Baby Muffin.
It’s hilarious to me that in the same chapter where the board meeting at the CCG discusses how they have to get rid of all ghoul gangs the meeting is being run by Yoshitoki, and Yoshimura brings up V. Y’all are being run by one, oh CCG.
Ahh, chapter 120, my favorite chapter in the original TG. Kaneki opens up to Touka about what he really wants, and she pulls an Urie and lashes out instead of just saying what she really wants: him. But everything she says to Kaneki is true.
And she calls him trash. It’s true love.
Yup, this is probably definitely why Touka hasn’t called Kaneki out in :re. Oh, Touka baby. I want to hug her.
Oh look Touken and Akiramon parallels (it’s also interesting to me that Akira lashes out at Amon while drunk basically blaming him for her father’s death and then Touka blames Kaneki for leaving her… like tell me she’s not screaming ‘why’ are Arata too when she yells that).
Okay, the Juuzou flashback chapter always gets me. Especially the way everyone covers for Tokage by pinning the blame on him. Fuck the CCG. This type of thing happens all the time IRL too.
This panel of Takizawa looks very much like Kaneki’s I AM A GHOUL panel during the Anteiku Raid arc, what is foreshadowing. Also this chapter breaks my heart. When I first read TG I didn’t like Takizawa until this chapter, and then I was like MY BABY.
I’m crying. Live, just live. It’s so tragic. Yoshimura, Irimi, and Koma basically do here what Kaneki does at various points in :re and what Mutsuki’s doing right now: I’m grotesque/sinful/don’t deserve to live so kill me. I love that none of them die here. Thanks to Kaneki and Eto.
I really need Eto to come back and deal with her father.
This sounds like Juuzou in :re damn. Ditch the it’s just a job Juuzou ditch it ditch it I believe in you.
See Nishiki gets it.
This will never not be amazing. Poor Ui.
Someone tell the entire cast this again. Kaneki, too. You don’t need to die.
Now I’m ugly crying.
lmao Ui is so done.
This very well may not be intentional but it reminds me a lot of the panel of Ui and Hirako before their fight in the 24th ward raid.
Ooh, I like the Itori theory. For now I’m still theorizing she’s a child of the Nagaraj like the 24th ward kids, but I like this idea. @linkspooky has a theory Donato is the OEK too (and Uta is a red herring, which it may well be) that you can read here.
