Would you read Eto’s book if they were real? Which one would you mostly interest you? I remember liking the concept behind the Hanged-man McGuffin with each chapter being a different prisoner talking. I would greatly enjoy a book set in a prison and which could discuss issue about Death penalty and such.

I honestly don’t know. I don’t much like nihilistic stories, and Kaneki’s conclusion that Sen Takatsuki’s books were written by someone who was very angry at the world for some reason make me think the books were nihilistic, though if they weren’t I would probably read them.

I also do like the idea of the Hanged-Man McGuffin. Have your read Dostoyevsky’s House of the Dead? Or the first few chapters of The Idiot? Both of those works deal with what you describe, prison and the death penalty. House of the Dead in particular is short and based on Dostoyevsky’s own experiences being imprisoned and undergoing a mock execution. He was very very anti-death penalty after that (which I am too), but the psychological way he explores the prisoners’ minds is really gripping especially when you know he has firsthand knowledge of what it’s like. 

Hey senpai! What are your hopes and expectations for TG in 2018? There’s essentially 52 weeks in a year so that’s 52 chapters, minus the break weeks so.. around 48 or so chapters if my math isn’t off. Just enough to probably wrap up :re by early 2019 or some shit like that.

*dramatically looks off into the distance* A good story.

Actually, that’s all I want. If things that I don’t want to happen happen but make for a good story, that’s okay with me in the end. But personally, my wishlist:

  • Garden Arc
  • Saiko Arc
  • Hide Arc–what’s your deal Hide, I must know
  • Zombies
  • Touken baby to be born healthy and loved and named Pleasure Kaneki obviously
  • Touka and Kaneki to get a wakeup call about ghoul rights and start actually fighting for them
  • Kaneki to be redeemed and save the world despite himself
  • Kaneki to mourn the Oggai
  • Hajime to be alive
  • Kimi to have some consequences for her actions
  • Touka and Ayato to find out what happened to Arata and to Yoshimura
  • Eto
  • Seidou to return to the plot and deliver some wake up calls to Amon and Akira
  • Donato to confront Amon
  • Takirona? let me dream
  • Finally figuring out what Uta’s deal is
  • An Uta-Yomo confrontation
  • Mutsurie and Ayahina
  • No but actually just growth and acknowledgement between them would be nice; romance would be the cherry on top and I’m afraid of getting my hopes up, but they have been built up by the narrative
  • The Qs to reconcile and fight for the Garden kids and for Hsiao
  • Shirazu Haru to be addressed (maybe cured?), and Saiko’s brother to be mentioned too
  • Saiko to mentor the Qs, or at least just struggle and take more responsibility 
  • Suzuya to mentor Mutsuki in a positive direction
  • Suzuya to grow past Shinohara because that’s gotta be addressed again; we got a giant hint Shinohara might actually be dead, and whether he is or not, that’s gotta be addressed 
  • Hairu zombie and at least a moment where she understands that Ui loves her before the end
  • An Asa cameo
  • Tsukiyama Mirumo to die so Tsukiyama Shuu can take over the family legacy
  • Shuu to remember Karren and think of her or mention her 
  • Matsuri to find love (Shuu? Hirako?) 
  • Tokage to die torn apart by a herd of fluffy cats 
  • The CCG to go down in flames 
  • Furuta to have a moment of it didn’t have to go this way before Rize eats him
  • Rize to shatter her objectified status
  • Everyone to face their flaws and make actual choices (Judgment)
  • The series to affirm its message of hope and life at the end
