Heey it’s me again :) Sorry to send an ask after another but moments ago when I was brainstorming about Oito and her nen category I started to think about Woble’s nen beast as well and after a while I came to a conclusion or theory of sorts about her nen beast. All the nen beasts seem to get their powers and conditions strictly from the user’s personality and subconscious so the same applies to Woble’s so based on that we can make ourselves a vague idea of how Woble’s nen beast will act. (1/3)

Woble is still a baby, she is aware of her surroundings but doesn’t fully understand them so she depends on her mother and others to take care of her because she can’t do it herself and it’s extremely vulnerable herself. Because of this I theorize that the only way to summon her nen beast is when she gets stressed. But as we see Oito, Shimano, Kurapika and Bill makes sure she is safe so in this context what could possibly stress Woble enough to make the nen beast finally take action? (2/3)

Someone attacking a member of her court (as I refer to the queen, her maid and her 2 bodygurads) it’s the only thing that could possibly make her nen beast take action, since they protect her and are close to her seeing them get attacked or downright being killed (in worst case scenario) would cause this. Assuming all this is right, this suggests Woble’s nen beast could be a Counte type that attacks anyone that hurts a member of her court. This is just a theory and my take on the subject. (3/3)

No need to apologize!!! I love asks and theories lol. I have wondered about Woble’s nen beast as well–since she’s an infant who doesn’t quite have a personality yet, there are a lot of questions. And I agree with your theory–I can very likely see the nen beast appearing in some sort of extreme danger situation.

I also think the fact that she doesn’t have a personality yet exactly, that she’s new life quite literally embodied, might mean her nen beast is… interesting in whatever form it takes.

Do you think the Phantom Troupe will show up any time soon? They’re on the cover of this volume so I think they’ll show up either during or right after the banquet next chapter.

So the volume I think is for the last ten chapters (through 380), not the current chapters. BUT I do think they will show up this volume. It is possible they are at the banquet–we know Chrollo wanted to go into the higher decks. In that case I’m fearful for Shizuku and Bonolenov and not because of Hisoka.

I like dabi and himiko design wise and personality wise. Himiko is really easy to tell, you can tell shes a high school student from just one look her cat like eyes plays into her quirk transform, shes really honest about herself whitch is one of her great attributes. As for dabi his design is interesting I love this air of mystery about him theres a lot of things that we don’t know about him like what is his really name? how he get that patchwork skin? thats what makes him so intrigueing

Yes, they are such a great contrast! (They also make a cute ship!) The villain trip really all contrast each other, and I love them.

I’ve been meaning to ask you for a while, with Oito learning nen what do you believe her nen category will be? Through Hisoka’s personality test I believe there’s a 50/50 chance she will be either an enhancer or a manipulator. If she’s an enhancer I think she will develop a hatsu based on increasing defense or healing, on the other hand I think if she is a manipulator she would develop a hatsu that helps her get allies to defend woble similar to Momoze’s nen beast.

Oooh that’s a great question!!! I can see either of those. She’s primarily motivated by wanting to save her daughter, but she isn’t exactly as simple and straightforward as other Enhancers like Gon or Phinks or Palm. I lean Manipulator as a result, and I think it fits her in some ways?  But really it could completely surprise us lol.

How did you come to ship Oito and Phinks? Cause now i ship them too. ^^

Have they ever interacted in canon? No, but when has that stopped me before? XD Behold, my rambling behind my crack ship of dreams (I know it will never ever happen in canon, but if they ever meet in canon I will scream so loudly y’all will hear me):

I’m a sucker for the rogue with a tough exterior but a big heart underneath and the beautiful queen with a big heart. They’re both from a poor backgrounds, but their lives took paths that are both on the surface different, but similar in motivations. Phinks is a thief, stealing goods. Oito wanted a life of luxury, so she was obsessed with becoming Nasubi’s queen. It didn’t get Oito anywhere she wanted, and I question whether it’s gotten the Phantom Troupe anywhere where they wanted either. Because in both their journeys what ultimately matters to them is the people they care for: for Oito, her daughter, for Phinks, the Phantom Troupe and its ideals.

Phinks is a brat in many ways, brash and prone to leaping into action without thinking, but he does care for the Troupe members and was clearly deeply moved by Pakunoda’s death and memories. He is a gentleman (like when he gives Shizuku his robes after her clothes are ruined fighting the ants) and he basically is very what you see is what you get: he doesn’t put on facades and says/does what he thinks. Phinks’ care for people, however, tends to be utilitarian in nature–like Chrollo (and Kurapika) he cares for those close to him. He also presumably took part in the Kurta massacre and Oito Would Not Approve, hence there is possibility for beautiful angst.

Oito is craftier–she’s smart and plots strategically, unlike Phinks (when he plots, like when he lies to Kurapika, he’s a total dumbass at it). But like Phinks, she has a big heart. Unlike Phinks though, she doesn’t just care for people useful to her, as shown with Momoze’s death. Her death is not affecting Oito and yet Oito still wants to stop it because she wants to protect children because she finds utilitarianism in terms of people’s lives repulsive.

In short I think they could compliment each other. Oito could challenge Phinks’s morality and encourage him to grow that care towards other people who aren’t useful, and Phinks would be the opposite of Nasubi in many ways: he wouldn’t deceive her or try to use her or Woble. (I think he’d almost certainly be quite protective.) Oito deserves to be treated like a queen. And they could balance the who ideology vs personal relationships theme in the Phantom Troupe-focused arcs.

What do you think of Benjamin and Tserriednich nen beast in general ? Also their ability?

Tserriednich’s nen beast is creepy AF. I’m going to quote the always wise @aspoonofsugar from a conversation we had a few days ago about the nen beasts representing the prince’s unconscious desires theory: for Tserriednich, he is probably more in touch with his unconscious. He doesn’t really seem to hold himself back from his desires like say Momoze was definitely repressing, and Sale-Sale too. But Tserriednich is an entitled $%^& who gets what he wants, when he wants, and he has no care at all for anyone else who suffers. He views women in particular as existing to serve his desires:

Tserriednich’s beast has prominent breasts and womanly features, but is an animal, showing how he objectifies women in particular (for the love please let Oito, his foil, be the one who takes him down).

It also has a mouth that, when it opens, reveals another layer, and so on, probably showing layers to Tserriednich’s facade. There are probably horrors we don’t even know yet.

Benjamin’s looks like a bug. Which is ironic, but it looks like a beetle which is generally hardy but also it’s a bug.

Not to be graphic here but the head looks like the head of… well it’s a phallic symbol, which again fits because Benjamin is very much a manly man. He kind of represents toxic masculinity in a lot of ways, and that seems to be a theme this arc is directly trying to deconstruct with Oito vs Tserriednich, Tserriednich being a predator, etc.

It also has multiple mouths, like Sale-Sale’s, perhaps indicating that Benjamin, despite his being very in touch with what he wants (to be king and ruler), also really just wants to be heard as well as consume.

Could you explain something about Kurapika’s actions in YN? Why did he tell his friends about his abilities and increase the risk? He didn’t even tell them everything and I don’t see how is this supposed to be a thank you for dedication.

Well, Emperor Time is something that would surely have had Leorio, Gon, and Killua all try to stop him had they known, so it makes sense to me that Kurapika did not open up about it.

But in truth it’s kind of a metaphor for how Kurapika functions: he opens up and trusts friends, but he holds his darkest self-hatred back. He trusts them with a lot, hence why he told them, but he doesn’t trust anyone with how deeply he actually hates himself and wants to punish himself. He trusts that he matters to them to an extent, but he’s holding a part back, and I do think he’s going to have to tell them/they will find out eventually. (Alluka can you… help please. Or an Ai, any Ai.)

But in general Kurapika wants to be close to people. He’s emotional to a fault and he allows those emotions and his love for people to drive him, but he paradoxically represses those emotions under the guise of cool logic and goals. It’s almost like a Chrollo parallel lol XD His telling them may not have been strategic. It may have been actually an example of him letting his emotions break through, but only a bit.

Please let this arc be the arc in which his emotions really start to break out.
