I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, but what’s your personal favorite top 10 AOT characters?👀 I already have an idea of some of them, but wanted to here more of your thoughts on them

Haha, well, it does change a lot, but the top five are pretty locked in! 

1) Armin Arlert. I love his development and how relatable he is. He’s the opposite of the “Gary Stu” claims I see thrown at him. He’s got a major flaw–his own lack of self-worth hence his sacrifice–and embodies the themes of empathy and compassion with a balance of needing to survive. 

2) Eren Jaeger. A strange MC in that he’s not exceptionably likeable, which of course means I like him. I currently want to slap him for his bullshit but he is extremely well done and flawed to an extreme, but his love and passion for his loved ones and what he believes in–and right now all he believes in is his loved ones–gets me in my kokoro. 

3) Historia Reiss. I LOVE A QUEEN. No, but she’s excellent representation for LGBT people, and her conversations with Ymir and decisions to live in the cave are still some of my favorite moments. 

4) Annie Leonhart. She needs to come back soon *sobs* But I find her arc incredibly interesting, because she is a person who would love to be kind, but whom the world never showed kindness. 

5) Mikasa Ackerman. I’ve written metas on her arc and how great it is before. She embodies the series message of “the world is cruel but the world is also beautiful.”

6) Jean Kirchstein. I love seeing him go from selfish dick to . fantastic leader. 

7) Levi Ackerman. One of the few mentor figures I can recall who also has a powerful AF arc. I love him. 

8) Gabi Braun. She’s a great character suffering in a cruel world, and despite the fandom hating on her, she represents the hope of the series. 

9) Falco Grice. Who also represents hope in the series and is a great foil for Jean, Mikasa, and Armin, oh and also Historia. 

10) Reiner Braun. Redeem yourself Reiner I believe in you.

Things currently in Attack on Titan… Omg the Gabi Falco Sasha family situation for empathy and understanding. Omg the Eren Eldian situation! Omg Zeke, Levi! Armin and Mikasa y’all need to somehow get to your boy Eren. The whole Marley, Eldian, World political warfare in general! Then there’s me like… Look I’m loving all of this stuff that’s happening currently… BUT ISAYAMA CAN WE PLEASE GET ANNIE OUT THE DAMN CRYSTAL😂

ME TOO these are my thoughts exactly!!!!! So much happening, shit’s really building, I loved the chapter–Annie? Annie? Annie when?

Kurapikas line on “my worst enemy, will be myself” like… I don’t know why, but it just immediately made me be like.. Yup, that’s him😂 The solitude of his character for strength, vengeance and achieving his set targets is one that always made him that much more distinguishable out of the big 4 for me, and their own salient differences in motives, flaws and assets. Also I kept on thinking to myself… I-is this gonna be the chapter where the editor was crying?😂😂😂 oh boy that should be 👀

Right? It’s very Kurapika. I was like honey it’s not just for this war that is your biggest flaw for like. The entire story.

It also seems to be setting up for the inevitable reality that to survive this war with Oito and Woble also surviving (and I do believe they will), he is not going to be able to work alone and do it, and will need allies.

HxH. Not only is Hisoka after the Spiders to get to Chrollo, there’s also the marriage “you may now kill the bride” contract with Illumi. But there’s also Kurapika who will eventually find out, adding more to the mix with his vengeance against the spiders possibly leading to Hisoka and Kurapika teaming up. However, 2 of the spiders are Killuas own brothers, which could present more conflict within that dynamic for Kurapika. AND his own involvement in protecting the queen and kiddo “dada”😭

Instead of Love Boat we’ve got Death Boat. It’s a disaster :)))) Also Morena and her crew are out to get the princes and everyone else on the way. Game of Thrones got nothing on this. 😛

My predictions for this arc are that Chrollo will lose several more Spiders. Shizuku, Bonolenov, and Franklin I think are the most at risk since they have the least development and were less of a part of the whole ‘law vs people being with you’ debate when it came to saving Chrollo in Yorknew–Machi and Nobunaga were very much on the people side (Paku too), and Feitan and Phinks (and Shalnark) on the law side–law being in this instance the rules Chrollo has set. The whole thing is both of those spider sets, if you will, love Chrollo, but for Feitan and Phinks it’s more about Chrollo’s philosophy whereas for Machi and Nobunaga it’s more about him as a person. I think Chrollo will have to make a choice since he tries to toe the line between philosophy and people–his quest to simultaneously be close to people while being aloof is a defining trait of his character. Either choice he makes may result in him losing more regardless, but if he leans towards protecting his Spiders, he’ll probably have to team up with Kurapika. 

Kurapika is not entirely likely to be okay with hurting Illumi or Kalluto, imo (well, more Kalluto, and those two are not at all at risk thanks to plot armor named Killua). So while I can see a temporary team up with Hisoka for Kurapika to mirror the one in Yorknew, I can also see a solution to this arc being Kurapika eventually turning on Hisoka again and helping Chrollo get his Spiders off this boat, and Oito and Woble with him. Kurapika will almost certainly have to choose between the eyes and his (living) clients (Oito and Woble) and I can see Chrollo having to choose between his revenge and stealing the treasure, or saving his friends as well. Since they’re shadows, I would hope that would end in them working together, though it could also end in them having a moment of understanding but choosing separate paths. I think the former is more likely though/more interesting thematically, since Chrollo is his shadow and you should reconcile with it.

Yooooo Howzit Kate😄 just popping in to say hello and to keep doing what you doing,✊ your TG posts and for other series have always been very insightful🙌 Oh btw have you watched or read 3 gatsu no lion? It’s a Slice of life/Sports/Drama that deals a lot with the psychological aspects of the different characters and generally makes them feel so real. It’s so good, and the anime by studio shaft (who also did the monogatari series) really adapted the manga beautifully😅 anyways have a good one🙌
