Okay. After spending some time trying desperately to find more anime or manga with m/m romance, I need to say something about Victor Nikiforov.
This man is a gem. A saint. A sweetheart.
Because get this. When his advances are rejected, he actually lets Yuuri go. Victor doesn’t chase him. He doesn’t force him. He doesn’t pin him to the freaking wall and assume Yuuri is just acting demure.
No. Victor goes to his room alone and freaking cries into his puppy dog’s fur.
To put it another way, Victor respects that Yuuri is not into it at that moment and backs off. Regardless of any signals Yuuri gave him in the past. There’s no entitlement here. There’s just the idea of “no” and it is accepted. Victor doesn’t even make Yuuri feel bad about it later.
Victor won Yuuri’s trust and heart the right way.
And I am really, really sad that this is so hard to find in other m/m anime and manga. I’m sad that Victor stands out as the shining example of Good. This should be normal.
