I just realized…Akira and Seidou’s relationship got no closure at all. Like they never interacted after Rushima and never talked about what happened. What was the point of having them save each others life and was the reason that started Seidou’s redemption if nothing ever got resolved between them. And also where did Itori’s crush on Uta come from that was so random. This ending was such a mess

Yeah I didn’t see the point of all the relationships that had no build up and were completely random (Banjou and Jirou, ok, Itori loving Uta) being fulfilled and the ones that had build up like Mutsuki/Urie not being canon and Seidou and Akira no mention of them even so much as talking.

Like I said, the message really seems to be that abused characters seeking redemption do not deserve love, family, or happiness, and quite a bit of the time even they don’t deserve life (Rio and Rize). Except for Kaneki because MC privileges. (I have no problem w Ken’s happy ending, I actually loved it, I just don’t think it’s fair that he’s the only one given it, but that’s not on him–it’s on the writing.)

Life sucks and then you die. That’s what I got from it. I am positive that is not what Ishida intended to say but looking at the evidence, well, that’s not an incorrect conclusion to arrive at either since authorial intent is not the be all end all.

But to that message I say: miss me with that. Life does suck, but life is also beautiful, and I want to live even if I’m not loved. So. There we have it.

Do you ship anyone in bnha?

Yes! I don’t think any of the ships are necessarily thematic or anything like they are in TG or SnK, but I ship for fun when I love a dynamic.

I like Todomomo because of their dynamic in the school exam arcs, wherein he encourages her, and also he basically copied Kaneki in the “cosplaying as your crush” in the anime XD

I also like Jirou/Denki and Midoriya/Tsuyu. The one I OTP though is Kacchako. It won’t be canon though; Deku/Ochako is definitely going to be endgame.

I think my first BNHA ask ever was about why I shipped Kacchako, and my answer still stands here. Basically, I like how they seem to understand each others’ wants and the internal things going on behind those desires (especially for Uraraka with Bakugou, via her empathy which lets her see (in an omake) why he treats Deku the way he does, and for Bakugou, well, he sees everyone as an opponent which is how Uraraka wants to be seen in the tournament arc instead of no one taking her seriously. He doesn’t underestimate her like literally everyone else did–he sees her as she wants to be seen, as strong). Ochako also sees that Bakugou would be more humiliated by being rescued by his classmates and its her comment on that that gives Midoriya the suggestion that Eijorou should be the one to call out to him when they rescue him, because like Uraraka, Bakugou does not like to be underestimated or feel weaker.

Basically: they see each other as they want to be seen, and as they truly are, and for that reason I adore their dynamic.

What made you ship Armin and Annie?

Oooooh! So they are my OTP of SnK. I love them. I’m a sucker for one angsty conflicted character and one sweet character who sees the kindness in the other character.

Specifically, Annie who generally seemed to dislike people showed respect for three people in this manga: Eren, Marlowe, and Armin. Why? She literally tells us it’s because they stick up for what they believe, though she calls the first two idiots for it. But she respects that, and presumably wishes she could be that kind of person herself. I like Aruani because Armin has that physical weakness but internal strength, and Annie sees that in him and respects him for it (and she is physically strong but lacks conviction). I also like it because Annie, in contrast, puts on an uncaring facade to protect herself, but Armin is literally the only character in SnK who sees through that and calls her on it. He tells her: “Hey, Annie, you’re actually pretty nice, aren’t you?”

I don’t think anyone that we know of had ever praised Annie on the basis of anything but her physical strength ever before. Not in Marlay, not her father based on what she says about him training her, not Bertolt (though he probably thought it but couldn’t say it) or Reiner, not Eren even though they got along great. Armin is the only person who praises her for an internal quality, and we then see her hanging around Armin.

She later spares his life as the Female Titan when she definitely was not trying to spare Jean so it was not a “we trained for three years together” thing but was a “you’re special” thing. (I’m not saying it’s canonically romantic but I think it’s fascinating, and at least where Annie is concerned her feelings are possibly romantic.)

Of course, Armin figures her out and true to his principles turns her in, though he is clearly shown feeling badly for manipulating her. And Annie expresses hurt with Armin specifically when Eren is the one begging her not to be the female Titan. Why? Because he saw her as someone kind, as someone good, and he’s accepted that she’s the Female Titan, and he used her as a good person, like everyone has been using Annie her entire life. It’s crushing and all my favorite ships hurt each other like this but also have the potential to heal each other. Armin doesn’t hate her, after all, and Annie still respects him for sticking to his principles, but perhaps Armin could have tried to reach her with kindness, as that worked.

Anyways, AUs until it kills me.

In snk, do you think Eren had a crush on Annie? Cause I always found it interesting when Eren was trying to turn into a titan but couldn’t cause he was still in denial about Annie being the female titan, Mikasa asked him if “special feelings” were holding him back. Or was that just Mikasa suspecting he had a crush on her?

I don’t think Eren would know a romantic feeling if it screamed in his face. XD But honestly, it’s possible, but I don’t think so. It’s very open to interpretation, and Mikasa probably did think so, yes, but also Eren has been shown to be very oblivious to the concept of romance so my guess is that he did care about Annie but didn’t really have romantic feelings for her (+ nothing was romantically coded), since I don’t know that Eren knows what those are haha! My personal interpretation was that it was the same feelings Annie had for him: respect, despite the fact that they went down opposite paths with Annie joining the MP (from Eren’s perspective) which he had previously condemned.
