I feel kind of awkward sitting here reading all these Gabi asks when I myself can’t stand Gabi. *hides in the corner* please don’t hate me.

BLOCKED

Jk I love you no matter what 😛 Acchan isn’t a huge fan of Gabi’s either, and I totally understand that Gabi’s a difficult character with her twisted perception of war. I really do get why people wouldn’t like her when the entire manga breaks down the ideals of war and then suddenly we’re like back to Beginning Eren and that same YEAH WAR perspective. That makes her not very likeable to longterm readers.

For me, I love her because she’s basically female Eren and I love Eren (second only to Armin) so I love Gabi haha. I also really like her thematic purpose. Plus, murder child! 😀 But again, Gabi’s kind of like Aura Shinsanpei I think… that’s the closest comparison I think in that I love them both very much but know lots of people don’t like them and I do understand why they aren’t terribly likeable characters.

And now, to dodge Gabi hate the next few months… I was already dodging hate so when I saw spoilers my first thought was “noooooooooo.”

WHY IS THIS MY LOT IN LIFE WITH THE CHARACTERS I PICK TO LOVE even Armin wasn’t exempt after serumbowl!!!

Isayama is so cruel…I was actually hoping most of the characters would live, but this new development doesn’t give me much hope in that regard. I’m preparing for future deaths now. ;_;

I’m so sorry. Yeah, ever since the 13 year thing was revealed I’ve been preparing for the worst, though like I said I do see Mikasa, Jean, Historia, Gabi, and Falco surviving, and maaaaaaaaybe Armin and Hange and a teeny chance for Annie. The latter three are long shots though.

It hurts though. Losing characters can be like losing friends, to be honest. Characters can really speak to your life and influence you to get better, can make your smile when you’re feeling down, etc. Stories are powerful and characters are a major part of what makes stories powerful. Losing them hurts. It’s okay to even cry and grieve for one, seriously. (“They’re not real” is a cheap argument. Fiction isn’t reality for sure, but it also is created within reality, so of course it isn’t entirely separate either. Stories help us process life.)

I am very sorry for those who are mourning Sasha’s death–Ymir’s death, for example, hit me like a punch in the stomach, and I know Bertolt’s death absolutely wrecked my sister. Despite my earlier post I do understand why people for whom Sasha had special meaning might dislike Gabi now, though I’m still going to complain about seeing Gabi hate (why do I always pick these characters).

Snk Spoilers Reaction

NOT POTATO GIRL NOOOOOOOOO

That being said if the fandom demonizes Gabi without realizing that she is Eren only worse off because she was never given another option like Eren was through Carla (look at Karina, her parents are probably similar) I’m gonna flip my shit and call pure misogyny. And I. Love. Sasha. So. Damn. Much. Like Mikasa is too unemotional Gabi is too emotional which is it? Why is Eren allowed to scream about trying to kill them all but Gabi isn’t? If Eren had a rifle y’all know he would’ve done the same thing.

Anyways, Gabi will still be fine I’m sure. She’s gotta realize she killed a person. Who spared her life no less. And maybe Eren and Reiner who are equally responsible for this situation should consider having a chat with her.

Do you think we’ll get a confrontation between Eren/Gabi or Eren/Falco or both at some point? Cos I really want to see that and I think it’d work perfectly for the story. I’m almost entirely convinced E and G are gonna face each other, with the parallels between them they can’t NOT. But I also don’t want F and E’s relationship to be forgotten, I think there has to be some form of closure between the two of them. I really want F to ask E about what he meant when he said that everyone’s the same.

Yeah, I do think we’ll get an Eren and Gabi confrontation, possibly with Reiner involved and maaaaybe Falco too. Should that happen, I wonder if Eren might see the parallels between Falco’s desire to protect Gabi and Mikasa’s desire to protect him also. And I would love to see Falco ask Eren that too and for Gabi to take from this realization that she does not have to become like this. She does not have to become Reiner, and she does not have to become Eren. She can grow into someone else, and she can get a happy ending with Falco while there is no happy ending for Eren or Reiner.

It would be very ironic if Gabi end up killing Sasha. She saved a child in the past and would end up being killed by another. I’m telling you this because Gabi saw Sasha kill a man who was close to her and who was also trying to get her out of the danger zone to save her from being killed. And that’s not something Gabi will forget easily.

It’s possible but not terribly likely imo. Isayama wants us to sympathize with Gabi and it’s Eren she’s after. If she kills someone, my money is on Floche.

I didn’t want to make yourself sad (abt Levi) :'( Be strong! At least he and the other SC were pretty badass this chapter! If Levi will die after taking down Zeke I would be happy! However, if it’s so it won’t probably be in this battle because Zeke has too many mysteries abt him imo. We’ll see, I’m worried abt Gabi going there. She’s the classic character nobody considers in a battle who could end up Killing someone major (maybe through luck). I don’t think she’ll die though :)

Don’t worry anon! It’s okay haha, I’m not that sad because it hasn’t happened yet. I do think he will play a role–I think Eren needs Zeke also because he needs his blood to use the coordinate? (Since he won’t use Historia.) So I wonder what his gameplan is.

Yeah, I agree Gabi won’t die. I don’t think she’ll kill anyone tooooo major because we need to care about her as an audience, but she might try. Or. Or. Maybe. Gabi will kill…

FLOCHE

doitgabidoit

So i saw you also like snk. I was wonder if you had any thoughts on erens talk with falco about gabi? I hate to get shippy but the covering of erens eyes in one panel made me really suspicious that he was thinking about mikasa. Why else draw him with his eyes covered? They parallel eachother in ways dont they? One who wishes to protect but isn’t as strong as the other. Also one who is out of reach and the one whos trying to reach them. (Pt1)

I just feel like there’re definalty parallels between these two. Eren can relate to falco with that want to protect someone stronger then him, who doesnt need protecting. Wouldn’t it make sense that this conversation reminds him of his own friend. Im not saying he has to have romantic feeling for mikasa but i do think it was meant to be a parallel. Even more so now with them being apart. Idk any thoughts? (Pt2)

I think it’s a genuine possibility. Like you say, there are parallels. Falco wants to protect Gabi, but Gabi could kick his ass. Mikasa can kick Eren’s ass. Though I think Eren isn’t as motivated by his desire to protect Mikasa–rather, she wants to protect him. It’s possible Falco and Gabi both remind him of Mikasa, and of himself. Gabi really is essentially baby girl Eren at the start of the series: brash, brave to the point of foolishness, glorifying killing, but she’s strong, so strong, like Mikasa. And Falco wants to protect her from her own strength, like Mikasa wants to protect Eren from himself. Because he wants Gabi to live, no matter what, and Mikasa treasures Eren’s life too.

I really do think Falco is fine, and he and Gabi are not high on my list of potential deaths in the series. If there’s going to be a better world, that is, then it makes sense for these kids to inherit it, to in a sense have what Eren and Mikasa will not have. Because regardless of what Eren feels right now, Eremika is where the manga seems to be building, but I don’t think Eren is going to survive, which he just basically cemented with this smash-a-thon in Marlay.

Thank you for the ask!

Incoherent Reactions to SnK 101

Goddammit Zophia and Udo’s deaths were heartwrenching

Poor Gabi

No one really understands the cost of war in Marlay, do they? Not even Gabi who’s you know been in them

Colt saving Gabi takes on more feels when you realize Colt is Falco’s brother

Falco better be alive (I’m not actually worried about him) but where is he

Zeke about to go face his brother? Maybe?

JEAN JEAN JEAN PLEASE BE JEAN

QUEEN MIKASA IS BACK

I miss her longer hair

I don’t care she’s back

Where are Armin Sasha Hange Levi Connie etc.

Mikasa: Eren no

Eren: Eren yes

Well, that’s the most heartbreaking chapter of SnK since chapter 48

(for me anyways.) Child soldiers… Reiner’s awful father and Reiner’s desperate, childlike hope, and seeing that same innocence reflected in Gabi’s desire to inherit the Armored Titan… and Reiner pushing Falco to do for Gabi what Marcel did for Porco… it’s all so brutal and so unfair.

And if you think about it, the people on Paradis too use child soldiers–of course, there is the (important) factor that they are clearly being used to save their people as opposed to forcing children to commit genocide against their own people, but it’s so tragic that they’re in that position in the first place. And while the people on Paradis are thus far, far more sympathetic than the Marley (who currently have little sympathy from me), it adds to the already present theme that in war, you become like your enemy (like in how Bertolt, Reiner, and Annie killed Marco, and then the Survey Corps killed Bertolt in a clear parallel scene).

War is cruel. War is especially cruel to children no matter what side they’re on, and that’s true in our world and in SnK. The whole situation is just very sad.

Someone please stop the Marley from hurting any more people.

harostar:

Fuck this chapter keeps killing me.

Reiner and Gabi are apparently cousins, hence the close bond and him wanting to save her.

Reiner legit thought if he did his job, his parents could be together. He did everything because he was clinging to this hopeless dream of moving out of the internment zone and getting to meet his father.

He almost tells Bert everything, but thrn promises to tell him in 13 years.

And he can’t even shittalk the Wall folks. He just….still cherishes the 104th so much that he can’t help himself.

Man. Save him from his shit life.
