I just feel like there’re definalty parallels between these two. Eren can relate to falco with that want to protect someone stronger then him, who doesnt need protecting. Wouldn’t it make sense that this conversation reminds him of his own friend. Im not saying he has to have romantic feeling for mikasa but i do think it was meant to be a parallel. Even more so now with them being apart. Idk any thoughts? (Pt2)
I think it’s a genuine possibility. Like you say, there are parallels. Falco wants to protect Gabi, but Gabi could kick his ass. Mikasa can kick Eren’s ass. Though I think Eren isn’t as motivated by his desire to protect Mikasa–rather, she wants to protect him. It’s possible Falco and Gabi both remind him of Mikasa, and of himself. Gabi really is essentially baby girl Eren at the start of the series: brash, brave to the point of foolishness, glorifying killing, but she’s strong, so strong, like Mikasa. And Falco wants to protect her from her own strength, like Mikasa wants to protect Eren from himself. Because he wants Gabi to live, no matter what, and Mikasa treasures Eren’s life too.
I really do think Falco is fine, and he and Gabi are not high on my list of potential deaths in the series. If there’s going to be a better world, that is, then it makes sense for these kids to inherit it, to in a sense have what Eren and Mikasa will not have. Because regardless of what Eren feels right now, Eremika is where the manga seems to be building, but I don’t think Eren is going to survive, which he just basically cemented with this smash-a-thon in Marlay.
Thank you for the ask!
