Initial Reactions to Snk 87 spoilers:

Which may or may not be edited/thrown out when the entire chapter is released with translations.

Those spoiler images are pretty horrifying. Given what Grisha went through, his position becomes more understandable (even if not necessarily justifiable). Grisha’s read for awhile as a very gray character to me, morally speaking, and this seems to confirm that status. I feel incredibly sorry for him, and from a psychological perspective, he must be a pretty strong person to be able to continue to lead a semi-normal life/show compassion towards anybody after that. Ultimately, he’s a tragic figure to be sure, and I can even see some (albeit distant) parallels with Erwin Smith here–both sacrificed countless people to achieve their goals, which were in part motivated by honoring their loved ones’ deaths and the ideals they stood for. The difference, of course, is that Grisha was a lot more foolish than Erwin and had a lot more knowledge of the true happenings, and put both his children in impossible positions, for which he can be faulted.

Secondly, the image of the titan Kruger turns into bears a striking resemblance to both Grisha’s titan and to Eren’s titan (I actually think it looks like a hybrid of both Grisha and Eren’s titans, which interests me because Grisha and Eren’s titans only seemed to minimally resemble each other’s). My current hypothesis is that it’s most probably the shifter Grisha ate to turn back into a human is Kruger, which would be narratively satisfying in a number of ways. Of course, the full chapter could completely crush this speculation, but I would be very surprised if this is a coincidence. It’s also possible Kruger is Zeke’s boss, in a sense, and is still alive and is our missing 9th titan, but I think the resemblance between Kruger’s titan and Grisha’s/Eren’s is too strong to make this likely.

@mercyandmagic I’d love to have your thoughts.

I finished my work experience at a nursery recently, and I was wondering how the cadets would fare in a room of 13 screaming toddlers? Also there was a girl there who would always clean and tidy everything, and she hated to be touched (it’s hard to phrase that about children without sounding creepy), do you think her and Levi would kind of get on?

hajime-isayama-official:

Levi would encourage her to be a bit more outgoing with the other kids, but he’d also praise her when she does a good job.

Mikasa: Take good care of everyone, cries when she has to leave
Reiner: Manages to entertain them by playing physically exhausting games
Bertholdt: Is overwhelmed and could be mistaken for one of them
Annie: internal screaming, tries to handle them tho
Eren: starts to do a cool artsy project with the kids
Jean: Bit overwhelmed, but starts reading stories, none of the kids care
Marco: Everyone’s best friend after 0.8 seconds
Sasha: Just as energetic as the kids, after being a bit awkward at first manages well
Connie: accidentally swears too much

Historia: Plays with everyone, it’s great
Ymir: throws children around the room. They love it
Armin: Does a cool biology project about local trees with them
Levi: Is already trained in keeping noisy kids quiet
Nanaba: cuddles them all
Mike: the kids are slightly scared and Mike is sad
Erwin: Needs help
Hanji: You don’t want this, believe me.

SnK AU

Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Annie, Reiner, Bertolt, Marco, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Ymir, and Historia as preschool-age kids tormenting each other–Jean and Eren fighting while Marco cries and tries to get them to stop, Armin trying (and failing) to hold Mikasa back from lunging at Jean, Connie and Sasha climbing onto the counter to sneak cookies, Reiner and Bertolt pelting toys at everyone from behind a wall-like playpen while Annie sits scowling in disgust, and Ymir protecting Historia from the chaos surrounding them. Also Hitch musses with Marlowe’s hair while he sits in shock after a block from Reiner and Bertolt strikes him in the head.

And teenaged versions of the Survey Corps attempt to babysit. Levi is repulsed by the mess their charges are creating, Hange finds everything hilarious and the mess charming, Mike sniffs the air and declares that “something smells,” Nanaba clutches her head and proclaims “We’re doomed!” while Petra and Oruo are too busy fighting with each other to pay attention, an irritated Gunthur and Eld try in vain to get Sasha and Connie off the counter, and Erwin phones his friend Nile for reinforcements.

And possibly there’s a white van parked outside, driven by a certain sketchy blond and bearing the words “ZEKE’S FREE CANDY” on the side.
