Dabi is the only one I’m looking forward to this volume not endeavor the cover made me upset seeing him what I really want to see is dabi just dabi

I do like the symbolism of the cover, even if Endeavor is triggering. Hawks and Endeavor share wings, like how Hawks helped Endeavor out. Endeavor’s left eye is covered by flames, symbolizing his scar but also how his focus on his quirk and pushing himself and pushing his quirk in his children has left him half blind. Hawks has his back turned, and in front of Hawks are blue-ish flames and darkness, which seems to be again symbolic of the panel in which Hawks walked towards the darkness, perhaps foreshadowing a future fall to villainy and of course, representing the deal we know he’s struck with Dabi.

For Dabi it’s hard to say since we’ve only seen a fragment of it, but. His eye color and Endeavor’s are both prominent, even though Endeavor’s is like tiny. I can still clearly make out that it’s the same color.

Just How “Weak” is Dabi? (Or: Lots of Thoughts on Marginalization in My Hero Academia)

echodrops:

I got an interesting ask about the way that Dabi relates to his limitations and how the manga repeatedly calls attention to the fact that he is weak, and I think this whole issue is fascinating, so I’m going to try to break down some thoughts on it. If Horikoshi carries through on even half the promise these tendrils of plot could hold, it would be a very refreshing take on villains, which types of characters are allowed to qualify as “threatening,” and what it really means to be a marginalized person in a “super” society.

Loved this!

BNHA 205 thoughts. On top of every other “Dabi is Touya” hint, this chapter also plays the “how many times can Shouto physically resemble Dabi” game. The two most striking ones are the full-page of Shouto with messy hair and the “back off” glare, which is such an edgy Dabi face. I think Shouto’s hellfire flame was scorching his face a little bit in some panels. I’m expecting Shouto to have some new burn scars next time we see him. Either way I’m hyped for more Todoroki fam Dysfunction Junction.

It DOESSSS The hair in that panel, if black… the resemblance would be uncanny. And yes! Please more Todoroki dysfunction. I’m encouraged Horikoshi doesn’t appear to be dropping it.

Not sure if you’ve answered something like this (you can just link me to that post if you don’t want to repeat what you already said) but assuming Dabi is Touya how do you think he views his family? We know how he views Enji but I’m wondering about the rest. Do you think he still cares for them and wouldn’t want to kill them? I want to say yes based on that part in the manga when he was talking about going crazy over thinking about the families of the people he’s killed. (1/2)

(2/2) Would he say no or try to save Shouto if he was hurt or the league
wanted to kidnap/kill him even though it would probably give away his
identity? There’s also the fact Shouto was on the kill list but Dabi
didn’t seem to care (even though I guess we don’t really know what he’s
thinking). I feel like we wouldn’t know until we’re put into Dabi’s
mindset.

I have! See here and here. I agree with you. I don’t think Dabi hates his family. Shouto is probably the biggest question mark, because he might fear he’s Endeavor 2.0, but I do not think he’s looking to kill him like he is looking to kill Endeavor.

you said that touya played a role in reis breakdown what do you mean? come to think of it when endevoir thought to him when he said “life i cut short” with reis face do you really think thay meant something that the todorokis didn’t talk about

If a child were to die/be otherwise very injured, that’s pretty traumatic for a parent, so I was wondering if that might have played a role in Rei’s deteriorating mental state. Then again it is equally possible that Rei’s breakdown might have triggered Touya to try Endeavor’s technique that likely injured/potentially almost killed him, so it could have gone either way.

As for whether or not they talk about it, Natsuo is the only one present-day who mentions Touya and trails off both times, and Endeavor remembers him without a face (wonder if his face is no longer recognizable…) But it’s possible they discuss him but have not on panel yet.

why isn’t touya mentioned until later in the todoroki household could soemthing happen to him that made them scard to talk about?

Honestly, I think the likely answer is that they think he’s dead or institutionalized with burns, but I also feel like this wasn’t properly foreshadowed in the story. The incident devastating their family was portrayed to be Rei dumping scalding water on Shouto’s face. While I’m presuming whatever happened to Touya played a role in Rei breaking, it really should have been foreshadowed a bit earlier imo. But in all fairness, the loss of a child and the loss of a sibling can be so traumatic many grieving people might indeed prefer never to talk about it, so it’s not unrealistic.

BNHA thoughts. Based on other posts, I’m not the only one here – I’m thinking Shouto is going to produce blue hellflame in the next chapter (defeating Tetsu). Shouto will likely scar himself in the process, likely not that badly, but enough. Maybe enough that he’d look scarily familiar in a black wig. I just wanna see Shouto putting two and two together here – his missing bro, the blue flame Quirk, the burn scars. (Even though I still like the idea of Rei being the one to figure it out somehow.)

Same haha! I want someone to have a realization that oh, that’s almost what Dabi looked like. Even if they think Touya is dead (really the only reasonable explanation at this point) someone please have that realization.
