Do you think this novel characters will have a bigger part or are they just cameos ?

I think Chie has a larger part potentially, but Ikuma, the policeman, Asa when she eventually cameos (and I think she certainly will), are mostly just cameos. They might have some minor roles to play like I expect Rio to play, but they’re not likely to have arcs of their own.

Thank you for the ask!

Momochi’s backstory sounds amazing, glad you shared it with everyone! You got my attention so, are there any other cool characters in the novels that may show up in the manga sometime? Also you should be worried about Momochi showing up during the Dragon conflict of all times, he’s so pure I’d be sad if he died now though.

Ikuma is so wonderful. I love him so much.

Yes! CHIE is actually a novel original character! And look at what she’s done in :re.

Morimine, the policeman working alongside Ikuma this chapter, is also a character in Void–he works a case alongside Amon.

Besides Ikuma and Chie, my other favorite is Asa. Asa is a ghoul in Void desperate to get Uta to mentor her. Uta refuses repeatedly, but he is kind to her. He asks her to accompany to visit an elderly woman, a friend of his who does embroidery. The woman–a human who loved a ghoul once–and Asa develop a mentor-type relationship, and at the end, the elderly woman (a complex character herself) and Asa are attacked, and Uta saves Asa’s life, but he arrives too late to save the woman, who dies, breaking Asa’s heart. But the woman who has grown to care for Asa too, leaves Asa all her property, allowing Asa to pursue her dream of opening her own mask shop.

Honestly, I was really happy to see tsukiyama express his feelings. It gave me nostalgia for old times >.< Hori being by his side (or just 'there', if you will) also gave me hope, at least for tsukiyama

Yeah, I was glad to see Tsukiyama break from his cool, anything-you-say-king servile persona. It was never going to last, and seeing Tsukiyama break down over this was a relief, even if it was sad (and also amusing in some ways, because he’s as extra as ever). He still does care deeply for Kaneki, and seeing his friend turned into a monster has devastated him.

But Hori is indeed there to serve as someone who can give Tsukiyama a reality check, and stop him from doing anything reckless (much like hopefully Urie and Saiko will be able to stop Mutsuki from doing anything reckless when he finds out).

And Hinami, too, is finally expressing her emotions.

And dammit, it hurts so much to see Hina-chan cry, but I’m glad she can and is allowing herself to cry over this. I hope Ayato (or anyone really) is able to help her not blame herself for this, because right now, she probably does.

And Touka…

This is one of my favourite Touka panels ever, as heartbreaking as it is. She’s clearly close to her breaking point too, and I give her points for not breaking down until she had gotten everyone to safety (especially with pregnancy hormones, lol). But I really, really hope she is able to allow herself to break down over this, to cry and feel whatever she feels. If she and Kaneki are to be able to move on from this, she’ll have to acknowledge her feelings in regards to this–hurt, anger, confusion, whatever really. Tsukiyama’s breakdown gives me hope that an emotional reckoning is coming for everyone who hasn’t been allowing themselves one this past arc.

Thank you for the ask!

Will be interesting how mutsuki will react since instead of haise/kaneki theres only a monster now. I wonder if mutsuki doesnt care if hes a monster and will still try to pursue him

I wonder too. Though I personally think Dragoneki will help break several characters’ obsessions with Kaneki:

Hinami’s:

Tsukiyama’s:

Mutsuki’s:

I know Tsukiyama is screaming and desperate to save Kaneki, and Hinami is devastated, and I would think Mutsuki’s reaction to finding out Sensei is the monster will probably be similar. So will Saiko’s, tbh. Personally, while it looks like Tsuiyama’s still quite obsessed her, I’m happy to see emotional Tsukiyama again; calm and repressed Tsukiyama was worrisome and when he’s acknowledging his feelings like here, there’s a more of a chance for growth.

But I’ve said before that I really, truly don’t know if Mutsuki and Saiko will ever get to the point where they are willing to kill Dragoneki. Obsession breaking might not mean that they (meaning Hina, Shuu, and Mucchan) want to kill him, especially because obsession with Kaneki looked pretty much like wanting to kill him or at least those around him for Mutsuki, lol. Dragoneki might reinforce tor Mutsuki that Sasaki isn’t coming back to that house, not ever. If it was impossible before it’s hella impossible now–but Urie and Saiko will still be there for him. It might be a process though, and Urie might need to do what Chie is currently doing for Tsukiyama: providing a reality check.

I think the person who will still accept Kaneki after this–but clearly not without difficulty either–is Touka.

Thank you for the ask!
