Princes Mononoke or the anime? I’ve seen most of PM! (I seem to always watch parts of it, but I don’t think I’ve ever been able to sit through the full thing? Not because I don’t want to but because of how it always works out, lol) It’s a beautiful, beautiful story.
As for the anime (which I don’t think is connected), I have not!
Ooooh, that’s so interesting! I actually.. haven’t read Invisible Man! It’s been on my list foreeeeeever. But I have never gotten around to it. Now I really wanna get on it!
I would rank it a 6. I think thematically it is excellent, top-notch. It’s just very hard for me to watch and not enjoyable as a result, and I don’t like mecha as a genre, not ever. As a result of the genre/things hitting close to home, I did not connect to the characters though I did like them. While it’s again, thematically great, I found it to be a bit dry as a result–if I don’t connect to the characters it’s just probably not going to do it for me even if it is otherwise excellent, and Evangelion definitely is excellent and I’d recommend it. That being said the message was stunningly beautiful and it truly did pull off the message of living, no matter what.
That makes sense! Whether they win or lose, I just hope Shinsou gets into the hero course. He should. I too dislike Mineta, and I would like to see Deku lose because Deku just like, doesn’t lose. I mean he lost the tournament fight to Shouto but won in that he convinced Shouto to use his flames and that was when I liked Deku most and I just. Would like to see Deku lose every now and then for character development purposes though my guess is Horikoshi is saving most of that for when the series reaches its nadir. My guess is that Deku might lose again here to Shinsou, but Shinsou might trigger the vestiges which would be a win for him in another sense (win or lose, the vestiges will probably be triggered).
I saw this morning that Isayama’s charity zine art of the SnK characters at the cafe has been leaked to Tumblr, but from the posts I’ve seen, what’s missing is the context and most importantly, how to support it.
Proceeds from the sales are going towards flood disaster relief in Japan. I hope everyone seeing and reblogging the art will consider supporting the effort.
Twitter user emica50 ( @darlingpoppet on tumblr ) has provided a step by step purchasing guidefor those of us who might be intimidated by the language barrier. @fuku-shuu confirmed to me that international credit cards work well on the site.
It’s actually in a different location! I believe the official translator noted it’s in a realistic location hours from where UA would be located. The sun thing is very interesting, though! Makes me even more scared for Hawks.
Oh, that’s an interesting comparison! I think they do have similarities though they’re quite different in terms of framing.
Side note: it’s been years since I read that book so my apologies if I’m remembering wrong!
From what I recall, Mildred was utterly hopeless and had no interest in changing her state. The novel I don’t believe was very sympathetic to her either. Gabi, on the other hand, is painted as a protagonist for us, as someone we should root for (whether or not we do), and I do believe she’s capable of change since Isayama seems to be emphasizing child child child in every single action of Gabi’s. I do believe Gabi will change. H
But the more I think about it the more I can see what you mean: Mildred is suicidal and Gabi is too, and they are both characters deeply trapped in their worlds scared to see a different world, but I think they’re quite different in framing: Mildred is hopeless, Gabi is not. But they are both clinging to the safety of the world they’ve always known even though it isn’t fulfilling them. It’s tragic.
