I’m literally drinking my last cup now of this tea, so this is good timing haha! It’s available here.
hey hamliet! a question, do you read/watch lord of the rings/the hobbit or not at all? any opinion on it?
Yep! I’ve read all of them. I’m actually more of a fan of the movies than the books for LOTR at least, which is definitely unusual, but I’m just… not a fan of Tolkien’s prose. I like the story a lot, though, and Sam’s speech from The Two Towers is still one of my favorite scenes in any media.
The Hobbit I like the book’s story; the movies I only saw the first one and was bored out of my mind so didn’t watch the next two. 😛
Hi! Lovely metas on hxh you have here! (also kusari yarou OMG) That made me curious about how would you do a ranking of the hxh arcs in order of being your favourites? – if that’d not too much trouble, of course
Hello!! And thank you so much! It’s my favorite manga and anime so I’m happy you like my metas on it! (And my blog title lol it just had to be done.)
And it’s no trouble at all! I’m happy to talk anything HxH anytime. I actually posted a list recently here!
I’m trying not to rank the current arc until it’s done, and didn’t include it in that list, but as it currently stands (and this is prone to change depending on how it goes) it would be probably right below Chimera Ant. The themes seem to be a continuation of the Chimera Ant Arc’s themes to an extent, the characters are all fascinating, and Tserriednich is a fantastic villain (and one of the few in HxH whom I can actually dislike lol, while also thinking he’s a great character). Bisky, the PT, Hisoka, Illumi, Kurapika–they all have cool roles, Morena is poised to be a fantastic female antagonist and I’m already highly attached to her, Kacho, Fugetsu, and Oito are all characters I adore already. The writing is really strong and the set up very complex, so I’m very hyped for this arc even with the hiatuses!
Do you think modern disney princess movies are less problematic than old ones?
Ehhhh…. depends on the film. I’d say it’s moving in the right direction? But there are other potential issues too. I’d recommend this post.
I also think the problematic elements in Disney Princess films are focused on disproportionally compared to other films from similar eras, which are just as problematic if not more so, thanks to society being misogynistic inherently and biased towards putting down things that are “girly.” There’s this attitude of “we must protect the media our women consume!” that stretches back centuries (like, men used to fret that novels were ruining female morality by giving us ideas like that we are people). So I get grumpy when princess films are scrutinized a disproportionate amount when compared to like, other kids’ films or adult films from the same era that are technically just as problematic.
In regards to Reiner’s sexuality in SnK, do you think he might be gay and his attraction to Christa is comp het?
Thank you for responding to my ask.🙂 I think I will just continue to ignore that NOTP ship/ shippers and focus on the ship that I like.❤️ To each their own, I guess… I feel much better after getting that off my chest. Thank you for allowing me to vent a little lol.
You’re welcome! Venting is not necessarily a bad thing and necessary at times.
Yeah, I agree. To clarify, I am happy for shippers who like that ship and I hope they enjoy their content! I have friends who ship it. I just don’t like it thanks to constant harassment. Sigh.

Oito tea, fit for a queen (heh). Earl grey lavender and vanilla!
Hiyaa Hamy! I could have just privately messaged you this BUT your thoughts are too interesting to not be shared with the world ✨✨ Do you think Ymir will be utilized in some way in Historias final arc and if so, how? Along a similar note, can you see First Squad Levi somehow coming up in Levi’s story considering where he’s at atm?
HIYA friend!
For Ymir and Historia, I do. I wrote this after the news of the pregnancy plotline came out, and I still am thinking that’s where it will go. I know it’s kinda controversial to state that the plotline might not be bad writing, but I don’t think it has to be though I wish I’d phrased it more sensitively in said meta/theory post, but yeah. That’s still what I think about it!
For Levi… well, the thing is, they’re in the forest, which is where Squad Levi died, Annie is probably gonna get out soon (I gotta hope), and it seems pretty likely there might be some kind of showdown in the forest when Eren & co arrive, as the SC seems to be heading there as well. So suffice to say, I can see something happening that is a very clear callback to what happened last time we were in the forest, though that isn’t to say I expect Levi to die in the same way or anything, but just to say there is set up for some kind of callback.
What is your opinion of Touga?
He was a character I cared deeply for. Utena and Anthy were my favorites, and I also liked Nanami, but Touga is probably right up there as well. My favorite analysis of his character is this meta by @empty-movement. Everything I would say about him is covered in that meta!
Could you briefly describe Shirou’s personality? Similarities with Archer aside from ideals? Reason I am asking is because I read VN before watching UBW and felt like Shirou was a bland character while in VN he was more witty and sarcastic. I was wondering what someone who hasn’t read VN and likes Shirou would think.
I like him because he is a very broken person encased in hypocrisy and good intentions, a scared child with an intense sense of self-loathing, a deep love for others and yet no compassion for himself–or so it seems. He is someone who really wants to save people, but he hates himself, and I found that relatable. Shirou tries to save everyone constantly because he’s trying to prove that he has value (because he believes he doesn’t) to prove he can stay alive, and if he has to sacrifice himself, well then, so be it. But, in the end, it’s all selfishness. It’s about him, not about others no matter how it seems, and that’s where the Archer persona develops from: his intense, burning desire to prove his self worth. The reveal that Archer is Shirou felt powerful to me because it was exposing his darkest shadows, the parts of himself he refused to acknowledge but that the longer he refused to acknowledge them, the stronger they grew.
He reminds me of Historia from SnK, Kaneki from TG, etc. In general, I happen to really love that kind of character.
