Don’t worry! Of course, you never can be sure, and she is spiraling right now and spirals can end in tragedy, but I just really am hopeful for her. Children have always, always, always been intertwined with Historia’s plot, specifically unwanted children, from her backstory to the orphans to her current pregnancy. Children, as the ending panel shows us, are associated with hope in SnK. Isayama also seems to understand the intricacies and tragedy and triggering reality of killing children in the plot, as seen in how he’s handled Eren’s crimes in Marlay, etc. In other words, he doesn’t seem to introduce children, kill them off, and then be like ahahaha plot twist. Zophia and Udo and the Marlayan kids’ deaths matter, and killing someone who actually does seem to understand that it’s important to treat kids well would be disappointing.
All that to say, introducing the pregnancy plot line only for even more sads if Historia were to die would be… terrible writing and not consistent with how Isayama has portrayed child death so far in the manga. For that reason I just don’t think Historia will die, and for her to die but entrust her baby to someone else–well, that’s possible, but I just think it makes more narrative sense for her to overcome her flaw and raise her child with love, unlike her mother. She is symbolic of Paradis in many ways, and I do expect Eldia to someone be free at the end, so I really hope she will survive and be free of the cycle her mother started (not loving her child) too.
Yut Lung had really thought Blanca wanted to protect him. That maybe someone finally cared about him. He must’ve felt betrayed that Blanca only entered the contract to help Ash under the guise of protecting Yut Lung.(I do believe Blanca cares though, he’s just known Ash longer)
He just needs someone to love and care for him and help him understand that feeling. I don’t care if everyone hates Yut Lung and is laughing at his downfall, but I will love him. Ash isn’t the only one who deserves better.
Thissss. I really think a lot of what causes Yut-Lung to vow revenge at the end is not that Ash grabbed him and held him hostage and got Eiji released: it’s that the two people he really hoped cared about him (Blanca and Sing) chose to stick with him only to help Ash, and he’s just realized this. His recognition of Sing’s voice in the shootout and then the confrontation with Blanca are really breaking him down, and he doesn’t have the self-awareness to realize that, as Sing told him last episode, it’s his own shady actions that are pushing Sing to help Eiji and Ash. Once again, he’s reminded that Ash has people who care about him, and he does not, and like a child (because he very much acts like a toddler this episode) he lashes out at Ash for having what he does not, but desperately wants.
There are indeed. I highly, highly recommend @linkspooky‘s “How Dabi and Todoroki are Foils.” Idk if Tumblr links are still broken, but if they are, you can google for it! Link’s meta really covers the subject in depth, and I give it a standing ovation.
Are you asking what the Marlayan plan is, or what the story’s plan is? (Sorry, I’m sleepy and it’s been a long day!) I think Marlay has no intention of anything but harm coming to Eldians. But you’re right, the odds are dramatically stacked against them, which is probably why Zeke is determined to destroy not just Eldians, but everyone else with him.
But I also think that the story personifies Paradisian Eldians in the person of Historia, and I don’t see the life of Historia or her baby ending in sadness, so I’m going to be optimistic here and say that while Eren has played right into Marlay’s hands, I think there is a place for Eldians and it comes with their relationships with other nations like Hizuru. Of course the other nations have their own interests, but that doesn’t mean they can’t find helping Eldia in their own interests as well. I have no idea for the specifics of what this will look like, but I don’t think they’re doomed.
Yeah, this. Golzine refuses to see Ash as a human. He’s a devil. A wild beast. A lynx. A leopard, a lion. A sex object. But Ash is a goddamn kid, a human being with feelings and dreams, and Golzine’s dehumanization is so horrifying. Ash and Eiji truly see each other as people outside of the roles they’ve been prescribed, beyond just powerful gang leader or dude in distress who lost his talent. They’re people to each other, and that is what is so beautiful and healing about them.
Of course, if Ash actually were a Ferrari, he would probably be treated better. Golzine treats Ash like a thing, but also hurts him, and most people wouldn’t harm a fancy car.
I don’t know if I’m the best person to answer! I don’t know Watchmen at all, sorry Anon! But I would love to see your comparisons if you’d like to make them–you’ve clearly put some thought into this!
I think you can definitely make the case that both are antiheroes, though, absolutely!–although again, the definitions of what makes a hero, antihero, and a villain are very… not set in stone. But don’t worry, I know you’re not being rude or looking for a fight.
Eremika, Yumikuri, and Aruani are my favorites!!! Of these, Yumikuri is canon, and I have written quite a bit about what I expect for Eremika–an acknowledgement is likely, a happy ending is definitely not happening. Aruani is probably my actual very favorite, followed by Yumikuri, then Eremika. But Aruani is not very likely to have any canon acknowledgement beyond some teasing as has happened in recent chapters–but ya never know 😉
Reibert, Marlowe/Hitch, and Galco are also ships I really love, and if Falco survives, and I still am hopeful he will, I think Galco’s chances of canonicity and a happy ending are really good.
For non-canon ships I also enjoy seeing art, etc, from Jeanmarco, Springles, Pieck/Porco, Petruo, LeviHan, Mikenana, etc. But I’m not very invested in any of these.
